I've been building websites since the 1990s. I started my first tech company at fifteen — selling virtual items inside a computer game, paid through the earliest days of PayPal. After college I became a financial advisor at Morgan Stanley specializing in fintech, was an early investor in Bitcoin, and spent the better part of a decade managing cryptocurrency investments through my firm, Bidwell Investment Group.
My work in AI goes back to 2003 and a University of Minnesota course on game theory and artificial intelligence. Twenty years later, in 2023, I founded Purple AI to give small businesses the tools that used to belong only to big agencies. We spent our first two years heads-down in research while the technology caught up to the promise.
Today Purple AI is three AI agents — Forge builds your website, Hone ranks it, Lift converts your traffic — each starting at $500, each refined by a real designer, all of it owned by you. The work that once took a 20-person agency now ships in days.
Where we're going: more agents, more small businesses with big-company firepower, and a team growing to match. This summer, it did — which is why this page looks a little different than it used to.
When I'm not building, I coach youth baseball, teach financial literacy to high school students, and judge the website division at History Day Minnesota.
